Scene 2 Act 1

  • Ruth was ironing and then Beneatha’s door opened with her wearing the robed Asagai brought her from Nigeria. 
  • Beneatha started listening to Nigerian song
  • She starts doing a Nigerian folks dance “ dance of welcome. 
  • Walter walked in on them and has been drinking.
  • Walter walked closer to Ruth and told her he’s a warrior and Ruth said you are much drunkard 
  • Walter goes on and starting doing his own unknown mood.
  • George walks in on them
  • Ruth was embraced for the family and told Walter to step down and stop acting like a fool
  • George came to talk Beneatha to the theater but she’s not ready and Ruth and Beneatha started arguing about her hair.
  • Beneatha got angry with the lecture George gave on Africa past 
  • Ruth tried to keep Beneatha quiet in her room and went ahead to go to talk George 
  • Walter Lee lied about being to NY and Chicago 
  • Walter starts making fun of what the college boys be wearing 
  • Walter keeps going off on George about what they teach them at school and what they wear.
  • Beneatha comes out with her hair cut 
  • Walter told Ruth who cares about her 
  • Ruth was all sad and said she didn’t know how bad things was with them.
  • Walter asked Mama where she been all day twice but Mama ignored him.
  • Mama told Travis she used the insurance money to buy a house and that the house would be for Travis when he’s a man
