Scene 2

  • It was a Saturday morning and the family is cleaning the house.
  • Walter get a phone call from his friend Willie Harris who’s trying to help me get the liquor store started.
  • Mama told Beneath to watch what she’s doing before spilling whatever she’s using to hurt the roaches on Travis.
  • Ruth went to the doctors but Mama and Beneatha thinks she might be pregnant. 
  • Beneatha gets a phone call from a friends who’s Nigerian and have been studying in Canada for the whole summer. 
  • She invited her to the house but Mama was concerned because the house wasn’t clean.
  • Beneatha told Mama not to ask his friend ignorant questions about Africa.
  • Ruth is two months pregnant now
  • Beneatha asked Ruth if it was an accident or she planned it to happened.
  • Beneatha thinks her hair looks bad she’s worried about it but Asagai keeps making fun of her because he knows how serious she gets about things like that
  • Asagai brought the robes all the way from Nigeria and told Beneatha that for her he would do so much more.
  • Asagai is Yoruba that’s a tribe in Nigeria. 
  • Alaiyo - One for whom bread food is not enough 
  • Travis went down to get the mail. I think they been waiting for the insurance money.
  • Grandma’s face slowly turns into a mask of unhappiness 
  • Grandma looks unhappy and Travis is concerned about her.
  • Walter lee comes home and the first thing he was asking about was the insurance money. Ruth was trying to tell him something but he wasn't listening and he told Mama that Harris had given him the papers for the liquor store.
  • Ruth put down a down payment for an abortion 
  • There is a conflict between Walter and Ruth
  • Their relationship is not in a good place
